Svitavy-born Oskar Schindler is known as the saviour of more than a thousand Jews from deportation to the extermination camps.
On the occasion of the preview of the film Schindler’s List, a memorial to him was unveiled in 1994 in Svitavy opposite his birthplace in the Jan Palach Park. You can learn about his life at the local museum in Svitavy or at the Shoah and Oskar Schindler Memorial in Brno.
